Did you know there’s an office dedicated to protecting the rights of people who receive regional center services? The Office of Clients’ Rights Advocacy (OCRA) is here to help. OCRA is a statewide program that provides free legal services to individuals with developmental disabilities who are regional center clients. We help ensure that your rights are respected in areas such as education, healthcare, access to services, and community integration. Our services include free legal consultations, support or representation at meetings and appeals, and legal trainings for your group. We are independent of the regional center, but we advocate for the legal and service rights of regional center clients.
Whether you need help with an Individual Program Plan (IPP) or Individual Education Plan (IEP), have been denied public benefits like In Home Supportive Services (IHSS), or just have questions about your rights, our advocates are here for you.
We’re here in person each month!
Come meet with us during our monthly office hours:
📍 La Jolla Room, Kern Regional Center – Bakersfield Office
📅 Every third Tuesday of the month
🕜 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM
No appointment is necessary—just stop by!
Let us help you understand and stand up for your rights. For more information or to speak with an advocate outside of office hours, please contact the Office of Clients’ Rights Advocacy at (661)208-4847 or through email at OCRA.KRC@disabilityrightsca.org.
