Lanterman Act Appeal Process
For Clients or Applicants Age 3 and Older
The Lanterman Act Appeal Process is for resolving disputes with a regional or developmental center about eligibility or the nature, scope, or amount of services and supports. This process is not to be used by consumers to resolve issues related to denials of rights.
Under the Lanterman Act Appeal Process, disagreements may be about services, eligibility, or any action or decision of the regional center or state developmental center with which you disagree. The Lanterman Act Appeal Process includes an optional informal meeting, mediation, and appeal hearing. Forms required to file for an appeal hearing are available from the Department of Developmental Services website and from KRC. Please visit Appeal Process – CA Department of Developmental Services (opens in a new tab) or www.dds.ca.gov (opens in a new tab) for more information about the Lanterman Act Appeal Process.
